Each year, we adopt a local charity to support with a series of fundraising initiatives.
We have collection tubs on the bar, a fortnightly pub quiz, sporting sweepstakes and other events/activities to raise monies.
This year we are delighted to be supporting Brightstars.
Brightstars is a local charity based in Bury St.
Edmunds run by Paula and Steve Turpie. The charity provides respite care for parents and fun for children with
physical and learning disabilities.
club runs every other Saturday from 9.30am till 4.30pm. Brightstars are a newly formed charity that has been
set up by Paula and Steve as parents because the previous club closed when Crossroads Care
shut down in East Anglia.
The children and young people who attend the club range from 5 to 19
years of age and have ability from mild to severely disabled. Over 50%,
including Paula & Steve's daughter are on the Autistic Spectrum. The club is designed
to provide a fun but above all safe and secure group.
Each session has a number of activities designed to engage and stimulate the
children according to ability. A snack and a drink will be provided. Activities
will include outdoor play, weather permitting.
